Afraid Working Out Your Thighs Will Make Them Bigger?

Athletic Thighs Look Good. Don't Be Afraid of Muscle! When I talk about thigh exercises, I hear many women say “But I don’t want to build muscle. I don’t want my legs to get any bigger“. That excuse is the reason those women find it difficult to get rid of dimples and/or decrease the size of their thighs. A balanced exercise schedule is a necessity - like a balanced diet. Your body needs to reach a point of homeostasis where each part is where it needs to be to function as part of the team.

Here’s why working out your thighs will NOT turn your legs into giant tree-trunks:

  1. Muscle needs fuel just to exist. The more you have, the more calories you burn (even sitting still).
  2. The more calories you burn, the more fat you lose.
  3. Muscle tightens and firms the area and reduces the appearance of cellulite.
  4. You are NOT going to get huge, bodybuilder thighs by doing squats or lunges. The people who want to look like that (see here) live and breath weight lifting and many of them take steroids. If you get huge, muscular thighs just by working them out once a week and eating right here’s a word of advice: Quit your job and become a bodybuilder because you have freaky-good genetics.
  5. Toned and muscular thighs look good.

The point is, don’t worry about your legs getting bigger because of muscle. Fat is less dense than muscle and therefore occupies more space pound-for-pound. If you replace two pounds of fat with two pounds of muscle, not only will you be more toned, but your thighs will actually be smaller in diamater. The icing on the cake is those two pounds of muscle burn calories every minute while the two pounds of fat just… sat there like saddle bags. So what are you waiting for? Get started on those Thigh Exercises and blast ‘em good!
